I have been writing in some form or fashion all of my life. I have written technical journals, 501(c)(3) articles of incorporation, resumes, newsletters, web content, short stories, poetry, you name it, I’ve written it. I have had many articles published, and I am presently working on several manuscripts for self publishing and public scrutiny and enjoyment. *When I am not writing, I am busy attending to the responsibilities of being the Owner/Broker of Royal Estates Realty Boutique. One day, I would love to try my hand at script and screen writing and authoring books for children. My greatest drive and inspiration for writing and sharing the thoughts that roam the halls of my mind is my beautiful, intelligent, inquisitive little muse…my three year old daughter.
For most of my life, I have been an entrepreneur…either in theory or in practice. I come from a very long line of entrepreneurs, so I guess you can say it runs in my blood. On my Mother’s side of the family, my Grandfather, and three of my uncles are entrepreneurs. On my Father’s side of the family, 4 of 8 of my uncles are entrepreneurs and many of my cousins are also. Working for yourself as a means of financial freedom is part of my family makeup. It is instilled in us at an early age.
I have beguiled numerous opportunities for earning money. I have worked in “corporate” America; I have been a Delta Flight Attendant; I have been a licensed Georgia Realtor since 1997; I have owned and operated Le Sub & The Yogurt Gallery-a successful deli/yogurt establishment; I have thoroughly enjoyed the perks of being owner of SOL Boutique-a trendy and eclectic clothing and housewares boutique; and for 27 years, I worked side by side with my parents in running our family business-First Steps School & Sankofa Academy. However, writing is by far, the one “position” that brings me the joy and satisfaction I experience doing it, as well as the blessed chance to be a stay at home Mother to witness and enjoy my daughter’s daily growth and development.
MODERN-MOGUL dot net is the culmination of thousands of hours of thinking about how I can use my literary gifts and talents, as well as my plethora of entrepreneurial knowledge and experiences to help and touch others. Although there is some personal commentary on this site, the major premise of this is to provide the public with information, resources, and a quality venue for discussions and small businesses marketing.
